Step 49
The sessions, as ICT reads them
Step 24 gave the session hours. ICT adds module 8 to them: each session leaves a high and a low, which are the next session’s liquidity.
Three sessions, three roles
- Asia, 19:00 to 4:00 New York time (midnight to 9:00 in London): often a narrow range, whose high and low are the day’s first levels.
- London, 3:00 to 11:30 (8:00 to 16:30 in London): the first to move decisively, often by taking one side of the Asian range.
- New York, 8:00 to 17:00 (13:00 to 22:00 in London): the widest moves, above all around the stock market open at 9:30. It extends London, or contradicts it.
Mark the levels before each open
Before London, the Asian high and low. Before New York, the London ones and the previous day’s. They are step 39’s buy-side and sell-side, sorted by session.
A sequence, not a rule
The side London takes does not tell the day’s direction. On the chart, London takes the Asian high, New York takes London’s, then price turns and goes below the whole night.
Some days Asia is already wide, or London does nothing: the pattern is not to be forced.
Key pointEach session leaves a high and a low that the next one often comes for: mark them before the open. The side taken first does not yet tell the day’s direction.
