The candle: the game to learn to read a candlestick chart

Loading the game…

All of trading fits into a candle: learn to read one, and the rest follows. Chapter 0 of the beginner path, where it starts. A guided chart to discover the candle, then real Nasdaq and gold charts: its colour, its open, its close, its high and its low.

How to play

Start with the guided chart: nine steps, two minutes. The game shows you one thing at a time and you tap it on the chart: a green candle, a red one, then the four prices of a candle.

Then, three charts per game, four or five questions each: the colour of a candle, one of its four prices, or the candle that matches four given prices. Easy: unlimited mistakes. Medium: three mistakes per chart. Hard: just one, and colourless candles.

The rule that keeps score

A candle sums up 5 minutes of price. It is bullish (green) when its close is above its open, bearish (red) when it is below. A close exactly equal to the open makes a doji: neither.

The body runs from the open to the close; the wicks show the high and the low reached in between. The game only asks about a candle where the answer can be seen: a body and wicks large enough for no price to be mistaken for another.

The beginner path

This game is the first chapter of a path that goes from the candle to the first trade: highs and lows, trend, break of structure, levels, risk, then the decision to enter or not. The next chapters are coming one by one. It is a reading exercise on past data, not a trading signal.
